Brigid carries an ordinal value of 49, reducing to Four, a number tied to structure and stability. Its reverse ordinal of 113 sits well above its forward ordinal of 49, a sign that most of its letters fall early in the alphabet.

Brigid is the Irish Brigit, usually explained as "exalted one." It belongs both to a goddess of the Tuatha Dé Danann, linked with poetry, healing and smithcraft, and to Saint Brigid of Kildare, one of the patron saints of Ireland. Her feast day, 1 February, falls at the old festival of Imbolc.

Saying it. The Irish spelling is Brighid, pronounced roughly "BREE-id"; in English the name is often said "BRIDGE-id" or "BRIDG-it." It has many forms, among them Bridget, Bríd and Breeda, and the Scottish Gaelic form is Brìde. Saint Brigid's cross, woven from rushes, is still made in Ireland around 31 January and 1 February, and Saint Brigid's Day is now a public holiday there.

How Brigid adds up

In the ordinal cipher each letter takes its position in the alphabet. Brigid is spelled B-R-I-G-I-D, which gives 2 + 18 + 9 + 7 + 9 + 4 = 49. Reducing the total to a single digit (4+9=13, then 1+3=4) gives 4.
