Fate
Word — gematria and numerology meaning
| Cipher | Value |
|---|---|
| Ordinal (A=1, B=2…) | 32 |
| Reverse Ordinal (Z=1, Y=2…) | 76 |
| Reduction | 14 |
| Pythagorean | 14 |
| Chaldean | 18 |
Fate carries an ordinal value of 32, reducing to Five, a number tied to change and freedom. Its reverse ordinal of 76 sits well above its forward ordinal of 32, a sign that most of its letters fall early in the alphabet. The Chaldean system gives 18, which reduces to Nine and so reads differently from the standard total.
"Fate" comes from the Latin fatum, "that which has been spoken," from fari, "to speak." In Roman thought it was the decree of the gods, and the Roman Parcae, like the Greek Moirai and the Norse Norns, were figures who spin, measure and cut the thread of a life.
How Fate adds up
In the ordinal cipher each letter takes its position in the alphabet. Fate is spelled F-A-T-E, which gives 6 + 1 + 20 + 5 = 32. Reducing the total to a single digit (3+2=5) gives 5.
| Letter | Ordinal value |
|---|---|
| F | 6 |
| A | 1 |
| T | 20 |
| E | 5 |
| Total | 32 |
