Purpose

Purpose comes from the Old French "porpos," itself from Latin roots meaning to put forward or propose — its modern sense of "a reason for being" is a narrowing of that original, more general meaning. Its ordinal value of 110 reduces to Two, a number tied to partnership that has little obvious connection to purpose's more individually-focused modern use, though some numerology writers stretch the association by framing purpose as a partnership between a person and their intended path.
