Oisín carries an ordinal value of 66, reducing to Three, a number tied to creativity and expression. Its forward and reverse ordinal values sit close together at 66 and 69, because its letters are spread fairly evenly across the alphabet. The Chaldean system gives 17, which reduces to Eight and so reads differently from the standard total.

Oisín is Irish for "little deer," and the name of the poet-warrior son of Fionn mac Cumhaill. In later tradition he goes to Tír na nÓg with Niamh, returns to find that three centuries have passed, and in some versions ends up in conversation with Saint Patrick.

Saying it. The Irish Oisín is pronounced roughly "UH-sheen," and in English it is often said "oh-SHEEN." The English spelling Ossian was made famous by James Macpherson, whose 1760s poems claimed to be translations of Ossian's work and were widely read across Europe, though their authenticity was disputed from the start.

How Oisín adds up

In the ordinal cipher each letter takes its position in the alphabet. Oisín is spelled O-I-S-N, which gives 15 + 9 + 19 + 14 = 57. Reducing the total to a single digit (5+7=12, then 1+2=3) gives 3.
