Oracle
Word — gematria and numerology meaning
| Cipher | Value |
|---|---|
| Ordinal (A=1, B=2…) | 54 |
| Reverse Ordinal (Z=1, Y=2…) | 108 |
| Reduction | 27 |
| Pythagorean | 27 |
| Chaldean | 21 |
Oracle carries an ordinal value of 54, reducing to Nine, a number tied to completion and compassion. Its reverse ordinal of 108 sits well above its forward ordinal of 54, a sign that most of its letters fall early in the alphabet. The Chaldean system gives 21, which reduces to Three and so reads differently from the standard total.
"Oracle" comes from the Latin oraculum, from orare, "to speak" or "to pray." The best-known ancient oracle was the priestess of Apollo at Delphi, whose answers, delivered in obscure verse, were sought by city-states and kings for centuries.
History. The temple at Delphi carried the maxims "know thyself" and "nothing in excess," and its priestess, the Pythia, spoke while seated on a tripod over a chasm. The oracle was consulted from at least the 8th century BCE until it was closed under Christian Roman emperors in the late 4th century CE.
How Oracle adds up
In the ordinal cipher each letter takes its position in the alphabet. Oracle is spelled O-R-A-C-L-E, which gives 15 + 18 + 1 + 3 + 12 + 5 = 54. Reducing the total to a single digit (5+4=9) gives 9.
| Letter | Ordinal value |
|---|---|
| O | 15 |
| R | 18 |
| A | 1 |
| C | 3 |
| L | 12 |
| E | 5 |
| Total | 54 |
