99
Number — gematria and numerology meaning
Ninety-nine is the number of the traditional "beautiful names" of God in Islam, and prayer beads in that tradition are often strung with 99 beads, or with 33 beads recited three times. It is also the last number before 100, so it is often read as nearly complete. It reduces to Nine in numerology, which is itself a number of completion.
In Ireland and Britain, a "99" is also a soft-serve ice cream cone topped with a chocolate flake, a small piece of everyday culture that has nothing to do with the number's older meanings.
